How To: Create a New Team Project

Please make sure that you have performed the following prerequisite steps before proceeding:

  • You have already installed and configured Visual Studio 2013 or Team Explorer for Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 to connect to your server.
  • You are a member of the Project Collection Administrators group for your account or you user has been assigned the required permissions.
  1. From Visual Studio/Team Explorer, access the Team Explorer window if it’s not already available. You can open the window in Visual Studio 2013 by going to the View menu and then click on Team Explorer. If you have any problems with the menu, you can also go to the File menu, mouse over the new sub-menu and then click on the Team Project... option.

  2. Click on Home, then mouse over Projects and My Teams and then click the New Team Project... option to start the New Team Project wizard.



  3. The first step will be to provide a name for the Team Project. Enter a name and a description (optional) and then click on the Next button.



  4. Choose the process template for the Team Project and click on the Next button.



  5. Now, choose the revision control provider for the new Team Project. You can choose Team Foundation Server Version Control or Git.



  6. Review the settings that will be used for the Team Project and then click on the Finish button.



  7. Wait for the Team Project to be created and then click on the Close button once the procedure is finished.
